Brown Skin and the Brilliant Sun is poet Terry E. Carter's sixth book and continues his Brown Skin book series. Much of the new work was done while Terry served as the Poet Laureate of the city of Medford, MA. The poetry continues to highlight Terry's superlative skills as a lyrical poet and storyteller, while continuing to address the themes of Black history, legacy, and faith. The Brilliant Sun also moves effortlessly through many of the life influences that permeate Terry's work, such as jazz, social justice, family, and community.
